He also works as an independent artist, writer, librettist, and film and theatre director. His critical projects and artistic research on immersive storytelling and embodiment often incorporate emerging technologies, multi-sensory design and performativity. His body of work includes the award-winning multi-sensory installation Famous Deaths (2015) and the publication Sense of Smell. His performative VR project Symbiosis won the IDFA Doclab 2021 Special Jury Award for best creative technology in the immersive non-fiction category.Van Brakels work was shown on international festivals and exhibitions such as Hong Kong Arts Centre, IDFA Doclab, FILE, Tech Open Air, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, FOST, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Playgrounds, and STRP. Van Brakel is also senior lecturer immersive storytelling, transmedia storytelling, speculative design and performativity at the Avans University for Applied Sciences in Breda.Katayoun DibamehrKatayoun Dibamehr is an Iranian, French, Canadian producer based between Paris and Montreal. She is an XR industry veteran, an expert in creative and cultural industries, and a seasoned and award-winning producer with a demonstrated history of working with festivals, public and cultural organizations since 2009. In 2014 she was appointed Head of the New Media Program FNC Explore at the Montreal Festival du nouveau cinéma. In 2018 she joined the Paris-based production company Floréal Films, dedicated to producing feature films, short films and immersive experiences.Dibamehr is a member of the Venice Biennal College Alumni and mentor for International Film Festival Rotterdam’s CineMart Immersive cohort from 2020. For the last three years, she is behind acclaimed and award-winning productions The Hangman at Home – VR, (Grand Jury Prize at Venice Film Festival 2020, Cristal for Best VR at Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2021), and the groundbreaking Goliath: Playing with Reality, (Grand Jury Prize at Venice Film Festival 2021).Amelia Winger-BearskinAmelia Winger-Bearskin is an artist who innovates with artificial intelligence in ways that make a positive impact on our community and the environment. She is Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence and the Arts at the Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida and founder of the AI Climate Justice Lab, and the Talk to Me About Water Collective. She founded Wampum.Codes, which is both an award-winning podcast and an ethical framework for software development based on indigenous values of co-creation.In 2022 Winger-Bearskin was awarded a MacArthur Foundation Award for her project Sky World / Cloud World, part of the Whitney’s Sunrise/Sunset series in late fall 2022. For her virtual reality project Your Hands Are Feet she was awarded the 100k Alternative Realities Prize from Engadget and Verizon Media in 2018. She is an enrolled member of the Seneca-Cayuga Nation of Oklahoma, Deer Clan and of mixed race as her late father was Jewish/Baha’i.〓 Jury for the IDFA DocLab for Digital StorytellingLoren HammondsLoren Hammonds has worked in the film and entertainment industry for over 20 years.He is Co-Head of Documentary at TIME Studios, overseeing the expansion of non-fiction feature, episodic, and immersive programming. He previously held the titles of Vice President of Immersive Programming at Tribeca Enterprises and Senior Programmer at Tribeca Festival. Loren has worked extensively in film production as well as in curatorial roles for The Gotham, Hamptons International Film Festival, and Bogota Independent Film Festival.He most recently executive produced The Territory and Katrina Babies, both of which received major awards in 2022 after premieres at Sundance and Tribeca respectively. Hammonds’s views on cinematic and immersive storytelling have been featured in several publications and programs, including The New York Times, BBC Click, NPR, The Today Show, and Vice. He has also been featured as a guest speaker at Cannes Film Festival, SXSW, Columbia University’s Digital Storytelling Lab, Mutek, Pratt Institute, Scuola Holden, P&G Signal, and more.JepchumbaJepchumba has been listed by Forbes as one of the 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa 2012 and in the Guardian Africa’s Top 25 Women Achievers. A digital cultural ambassador, Jepchumba is the Founder and Creative Director of African Digital Art, a collective and creative space where digital artists, enthusiasts and professionals can seek inspiration, showcase their artistry and connect with emerging artists.Jepchumba is dedicated to promoting the growth of the creative technology in Africa. Originally from Kenya, she has lived, travelled and spoken around the world promoting her commitment to culture of technology in Africa. As an African digital artist, she is passionate about creating unique digital experiences that showcase Africa’s legacy of technology.Leonieke VerhoogLeonieke Verhoog loves playing in both the physical and the virtual world and loves it even more when these worlds collide. She carried out digital storytelling experiments at Dutch public broadcasting organization VPRO’s Medialab, created a creative digital running community with FigureRunning, guarded public values as a program manager for PublicSpaces, is member of the board of the Digital Culture committee at the Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie), and will start a new position at the children’s media festival Cinekid as Head of Cinekid MediaLab in November 2022.
